Shane Thomas
Obtained his BSc (Hons) in Physics in 1988 from the University of Bristol, with a final year dissertation on computer aided learning. He later received an MSc in Medical Physics from Surrey University, and an MSc in Astrophysics from the University of London.
After graduating, he initially worked for the National Radiological Protection Board, working on the computer modelling of the dispersion of radioactive materials in the seas around Europe.
He then worked for the NHS for ten years in London and Oxford as a Medical Physicist specialising in Nuclear Medicine. This involved much computer support work, developing expertise on PCs, Macs, Unix workstations and more specialised hardware, together with networking, and software development among other areas.
